BJEV Awarded AVP Mass Production R&D Project to Intron Technology Further Cooperation to Commercialise Autonomous Driving

2020.08.10

(10 August 2020, Hong Kong) – Intron Technology Holdings Limited (“Intron Technology” or the “Group”; HKEX: 1760), a fast-growing automotive electronics solutions provider in China, is pleased to announce that Beijing Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd. (BJEV), a leading automotive brand in China, has awarded Intron Technology the Automated Valet Parking (AVP) mass production R&D development project. This is the Group’s further cooperation with BJEV on the development for its new generation NEV products in China.

Intron Technology will provide high autonomous driving system solutions including sensor modules such as controller and cameras to BJEV. Intron and BJEV will also deepen the technological cooperation and jointly develop new generation of vehicle-based AVP system solutions. The project is expected to commence mass production in 2022.

Under the AVP system, users can exit the vehicle after driving to designated passenger drop-off areas. The system allows users to directly activate the valet parking program via their smartphone. Through its path-finder capabilities such as in-vehicle sensors and high-definition maps , the vehicle is able to automatically complete parking manoeuvres, as well as be retrieved without manual operation. As a high autonomous driving solution, the AVP system places vehicles in the parking spaces of shopping malls and office buildings at safe speeds. It can thereby help drivers save time from parking and retrieving their vehicles, significantly improving the overall user experience.

As one of the few pioneers in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Automated Driving (AD) solution, Intron Technology has placed great emphasis on R&D. This AVP mass production project has marked an important milestone in the path towards the mass production of ADAS/AD technology. AVP system is an extension of parking assistance technology, and will be one of the earliest Level 4 automation vehicle functions to be commercialised.

Mr. Luk Wing Ming, Chairman and Co-CEO of Intron Technology, said, “Cooperation with BJEV in the area of AVP system will result in our first ADAS project to achieve mass production. The Group has regarded R&D as the cornerstone of its business development, and ADAS as the next important opportunity in the automotive industry. More resources have been allocated to this field over the years, and we have also worked with prominent research companies and institutes from around the world to establish industry leading technological advantages. Looking ahead, the Group will continue to enhancing its R&D capabilities, as well as reinforce its technological excellence and leading market position in order to seize the enormous growth opportunities ahead.”
